Infected hips and knees are truly awful.

I think the best perioperative opportunity with brilacidin is for orthopaedic cases where hardware is inserted. Total joint replacements come to mind as these are absolute nightmares when they get infected. Hardware coatings and/or mixing brilacidin with cement (methyl methacralate) might be considered. Also, I think a good case can be made for using brilacidin with other ortho cases where hardware (plates, screws) is inserted.

Sometimes I get it right.

Today I was involved with an MRSA patient who underwent spinal fusion. Vancomycin powder was placed in the wound. As far as I know, the hardware was not antibiotic coated.
