They never mass produced NP-1 at all, because they know they couldn't sell it, because it's an overpriced piece of junk. The 50,000 lie was to try to paper over all the previous lies.
By this time, the supporters were supposed to have forgotten NP-1 completely - they've been downplaying it since the spring, for heaven's sake. You're supposed to be singing the praises of Ultraflix, which you are, but you're never supposed to mention NP-1 at all, because it's just an albatross for them.
You just didn't get the memo, so I'll give it to you now: the lies that they told about NP-1 are only forgivable (i.e., non-indictable) if people forget them and forget about the device completely. That lets them rely on subjective, completely non-indictable lies about the quality of Ultraflix content.
They still had to lie about when Ultraflix would be commercially available, but I'm thinking they have a cover story for that that might pass muster if they give the lawyer enough money to make it sound plausible.
But they still have to make people forget NP-1 and never speak of it again.
Just as they made sure it didn't even come up during their NYT interview. Kind of a curious omission, wouldn't you say?
