I'm sure future Presidents will reverse the slippery slope of reluctance Obama has shown toward issuing Executive Orders.

As the White House Domestic Adviser Gary L. Bauer said, "There are a number of things the President can unilaterally do, with a hostile Congress that doesn’t show much sign of coming toward us on some of these issues, it behooves us to take the initiative when we can take it.”

It was unprecedented when President George H.W. Bush signed an Executive Order granting complete amnesty to 45% of the illegal immigrants living in America in 1990.

When President Obama granted a more limited amnesty to 45% of the illegal immigrants living in America in 2014, this represented another example of Obama refusing to take advantage of sweeping Executive Actions in the way prior Presidents have. Is this really a slippery slope toward more limited Executive Orders? Only future Presidents can answer that.

Of course White House Domestic Adviser Gary L. Bauer worked for President Ronald Reagan, and made the comment above in August 1987 when Ronald Reagan issued an Executive Order creating the NSA with sweeping powers to listen to American's conversations, read their communications and monitor the daily activities of Americans. It's very disappointing that President Obama continues to be reluctant to use executive orders in the same sweeping fashion previous Presidents like Ronald Reagan have.

Just think how Dwight Eisenhower signed a sweeping Executive Order desegregating Public Schools in September 1957. Now what if President Obama signed an Executive Order as sweeping as that? Then we could have a conversation about sweeping Executive Powers. Instead we got a constipated Executive Order of very limited scope.

We've run out of other people's Social Security taxes needed to subsidize our low income tax rates.
