An under- the-radar company is emerging in the race to come to market with smart glasses that don’t make you look like you just stepped off the starship Enterprise.

Vuzix, a New York-based video eyewear supplier, is confident it can beat Google glasses and also compete and replace action-camera companies like GoPro, favored by sporty types.

[color=red][/color]Vuzix CEO Paul Travers tells our Julie Earle Levine he has an exclusive deal to sell its M100 Smart Glasses on Amazon — which will be announced on Monday — and that it’s the first step toward what analysts are saying will be a major disruption as the company enters the consumer space.[color=red][/color]

Travers says Vuzix is working with Apple on software that allows iPhones to work with M100 glasses.
