It is the best reason that I recco to hold physical. If they do pull another FDR and confiscate, all paper gold goes away as the repositories are the first place the feds will go to grab the gold. Rule of thumb, if you can't hold it in your hand you don't really own it. It would be impossible for the feds to go house to house demanding gold. If they would try I strongly suspect an armed rebellion might take place.
