"Free shares" is very dishonest and in fact would be illegal for a Registered Representative (someone licensed by FINRA to sell securities) to say about a stock before the ex-dividend date. It's called "selling the dividend" and subjects a licensed rep to stiff fines and potential loss of license. The reason is simple. The net financial effect on a shareholder of receiving a dividend is zero. It's only after the dividend is received that one can potentially see a financial gain if the pps of the granting company goes up or, if stock is received in a new company like Vitacig and its pps goes up. I fully expect this to be the case with VCIG and MCIG as well since it will still own 49% of Vitacig.
