Raz...I don't have a "broker", but on Friday it was unusually funny to have Fidelity call me out of the blue to discuss my accounts. They wanted to offer me some services (free of course) to help me manage my accounts and plan for retirement. Anyway, besides the fact they called after my accounts went sky high I did ask him about the borrowing rules for shares I own. He said Fidelity DOES NOT lend shares that investors own. The only shares which someone may have which can be lent to possibly short a stock are shares which were obtained on margin. I don't know if the other companies work the same, but it makes me feel better to know my own shares aren't working against me!
