You're thinking that after 20 weeks of dropping the worst 5% I would be left with no customers at all. But that math is faulty. The fact is that I would still have 39% of my original customers remaining after 20 weeks.

Despite losing 61% of my customers by ditching the worst while keeping the best I would probably still have far more than 50% of my revenue remaining while, my workload will have decreased far more than 50%. The decrease in workload then allows me to lay off the worst of the mathematicians on my staff further increasing my overall profitability, regardless of the decrease in top line revenue.
