Anything is possible as you're pointing out. However personally can not think of any other reason for the company to hurry its' Sec filings by 8 days.

Perhaps they act as backstop, buying at a certain pps or lower effectively creating a floor. Just the mention of this would encourage the other holders to purchase up to that floor without the need for them to buy any, imo. Just some thoughts.
