Regarding transportation- No transportation cost will not be low but very expensive as there are no roads from Colombia to Panama and all of Central America, therefore shipping LNG must be by water. Example: a small 50MW
power generating system would require 156,000 to 162,000 gallons of LNG per day. To service this application you would need three or more ocean going barges with tugs as the trip to Panama (closes country) takes three days.
The rental on a tug is $10,000/day and ocean barges are costly. Additionally 14-16 LNG trailers would be required and cost $ 250,000.00 each.
