I don't see any reason to assume that the pace of the past dictates the pace of the future. As knowledge and craft accumulate acceleration is likely. Therefore concerns arising from the past rate of progress do not seem to me to be automatically transferable to the future. I think things are being learned, and I expect good, perhaps even surprising, results from that.
