Intersil may be losing market share to TI & Others; and blaming it on slow demand

According to Hoovers, Intersil's competitors are TI, Analog Devices and Maxim.

====================================
Couple of extracts from TI's recent conference call (10/21/2014) transcript on Street.com. Note that we are talking about the same Q3 period, TI (till 9/30/2014) and Intersil (10/3/2014) . So these periods mostly overlap.

*** Revenue grew led by power management ***
Analog revenue grew 11% from a year ago, led by power management. High volume analog and logic, high performance analog, and Silicon Valley analog also grew.

*** TI's 4th quarter forecast ****
Turning to our outlook, we expect TI revenue in the range of $3.13 billion to $3.39 billion in the fourth quarter. At the middle of this range, revenue would increase 8% from a year ago.

===================================

Taking both the above together, it appears that Intersil is blaming its market share loss on slowing demand and inventory buildups. Further, TI is looking for the Q4 market to grow about 8% (mid-range of forecast) from Q4 of 2013.

TI - $12.8 billion revenues, $50 billion market cap
Intersil - $586 million revenues, $1.6 billion market cap

I think the question is which company is the better indicator...
