You are right of course. Except, we don't have a report to know what they did. And, if they ran that as a screening test rather than a full fledged experimental test, they might not have used a control group. Previous experience had shown that the virus load was 100% lethal.

Under the circumstances I think running as screening test is likely. If that proved successful, then running a more formal protocol would be justified.

However, without the report, we are speculating.

The future's so bright I have to wear shades.
