so by your explanation below, is if someone shorts for a couple seconds

that doesnt count as a short?

and this list does not give you the timing of how long the stock is being shorted in each trade?


so in order for FINRA's report - to not be a lie

they need to give a timing report of each short?

is this what you are saying?

so that we can see what trades are being shorted for longer periods of time?

and what shorts are being traded for only a couple of seconds?

so if an MM shorts a stock, they do not need to BUY to cover? is that what that means?

If you read, you'll see that what the Market Makers must report as a short, is not some group shorting a gem of a stock. Market Makers are allowed to short in order to maintain liquidity in a market. The "short" may exist only for a few seconds, but that "short" still gets added to the "short" entry of the FINRA report.
