Including built in support for 4G-LTE, MediaTek's MT6595 boosts Vibe X2's multi-tasking performance and extends battery life
October 27, 2014 03:27 AM Eastern Daylight Time
LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dialog Semiconductor plc (FWB: DLG), a provider of highly integrated power management, AC/DC, solid-state lighting and Bluetooth(R) Smart wireless technology, today announced that Lenovo has implemented the DA9210 power management IC (PMIC) in the new Vibe X2 smartphone. The highly integrated 4-phase DC-DC buck converter delivers intelligent, precision control of power to the MediaTek MT6595 SoC. The output voltage of the DA9210 adapts dynamically to the processor load. As a result, phone users experience better multi-tasking and extended battery life.
“Since launching our first model in 2010, Lenovo has grown into the world's third best-selling smartphone company and this rapid success is due to a persistent focus on user needs in key areas such as power management where Dialog's DA9210 makes a significant difference”
The Lenovo Vibe X2 is equipped with a high performance MediaTek MT6595 SoC, 32GB internal storage, and a 5-inch FHD resolution display with wide viewing angles. Back cover accessories include a JBL speaker and a supplementary battery that can extend the operating time between charges by up to 75%.
The Mediatek MT6595 is the world's first octa-core 4G LTE smartphone chip. It features four high performance Cortex(R)-A17 cores and four energy efficient Cortex-A7 processor cores. The MT6595 uses the ARM(R) big.LITTLE architecture.
"Since launching our first model in 2010, Lenovo has grown into the world's third best-selling smartphone company and this rapid success is due to a persistent focus on user needs in key areas such as power management where Dialog's DA9210 makes a significant difference," said Jeff Hsieh, Director of Product Development for Lenovo.
"The DA9210 enables Lenovo to set a new standard in smartphone performance by optimising the control of the power management system," said Udo Kratz, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Business Group Mobile Systems. "It also strengthens the consumer appeal of the new Vibe X2 by making it much easier for users to multi-task and use data-intensive applications simultaneously."
