This is being echoed all over the country. I stopped doing SS gallbladders with the DaVinci because it was costing $2000-$3000 more per case. With the new global fee schedules, increased cost make me look bad. I can do a lap chole with 2 5mm ports and a 12mm ports (3 ports total) in between 15 and 30 minutes but the ergonomics are bad (my left thumb and right middle finger hurt after a long day and it's becoming chronic) Surgeons want to use new technology but the increased price can no longer justify it. Dr. Fowler and company are well aware of this.
