How do you know how many shares are traded on those days? I'm curious. I've watched the L2 on some of those busy days, like in 2012 and 2013, but how do you know the total number of shares available to be traded? There are theoretically any number of shares available to be traded - as long as the price is right. So I don't understand this statement.

About this group of private investors with 100 million - can we get any anecdotes or references that suggest to their existence? I know it's almost an accepted part of STWA lore at this point, but I'd be interested in some actual eyewitness evidence or anecdote. My assumption in the belief is:
*reference to private meetings with shareholders in London
*being told by various IR people that there's a group of wealthy people with lots of shares
*the way Cecil was booted and the post by Perfection and Ease
*the appearance of similar kind of people to Perfection and Ease, who seem to know a lot and hold a lot of cards, but don't let on much
*the reference to the group on this forum, which I put about 5% weighting on - unless I know what it's based on
*the company flying to the UK and Australia to make pitches to these heavy investors
*the fact that for a while you could pick up the shares for 0.25 each. The whole company has been funded this way. So to get 4 million shares, at the start you'd only need 1m or so, then you get the option for another 4m - right there, you get a huge shareholder who controls 8m shares but only had to shed 2m or so for the privilege. I have heard multiple references to people investing millions in those offers - so if you invest 1m, that means you control 4 million shares.

Another question: if people keep their shares in paper certificates, do they still need to register as beneficial owners if they hold more than 5% of the total shares?
