In passing, I mentioned an idea here a while back that was suggested to me by a musicians friend who was trying to start a recording studio. It consisted of doing a series of "Battles of the Bands" throughout the year and the top four or five bands towards the end of the year would participate in a three day extravaganza ending on Dec. 31. The winner would be announced in early January and they would get to record a CD for free.
Throughout the year videos would be taken of the shows and posted online allowing listeners to vote for their favorite concerts. Of course, voting would require that they pay a small fee. So listeners would be able to vote during the concerts. They pay an admissions fee and that would give them one vote, and if they wanted to buy additional votes, they would have to pay a dollar for each vote.
The more I have thought about this idea during the last few months, the more I like it.
But heck, it doesn't have to be this. There are all kinds of ideas floating around.
