Caledonia Mining sees big profit jump in 2024; welcomes gold's move above $3,000

Caledonia Mining Corporation PLC (AIM:CMCL, NYSE-A:CMCL) chief executive Mark Learmonth talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s strong 2024 financial performance and strategic priorities following the release of its latest results. Learmonth reported a “strong end to a reasonably good year,” with annual gold production reaching approximately 78,000 ounces—within guidance—supported by favourable pricing. He highlighted that “gross profit for the year was 77 million, compared to 41 million last year,” with adjusted earnings per share rising sharply from less than $0.10 in 2023 to nearly $1.30 in 2024. The results were delayed due to a technical accounting issue, with Learmonth explaining this stemmed from a deferred tax calculation error dating back to 2019. He stressed it had “no impact on our actual tax liabilities and tax payments.” On project development, the feasibility study for the Bilboes project has been extended to evaluate options that could significantly reduce capital costs. These include the potential to export concentrate and relocate the tailings facility, potentially lowering upfront investment needs. Exploration at both Blanket and Motapa returned positive results. Learmonth noted that the Blanket resource base has been extended, and early work at Motapa uncovered “exciting mineralisation” in new areas. With gold prices currently above $3,000 per ounce, the company is focused on maximising cash flow and investing further in Blanket and other revenue-generating opportunities. Data security: archTIS lands key licensing deal

The deal builds on archTIS’s acquisition of Direktiv and its integration of advanced cybersecurity technology into its Trusted Data Integration platform. Lai explained that the licensing agreement enables the Japanese company—an asset services provider with operations valued at $12.5 billion—to introduce new data-centric security services into the Japanese market. “This is just another example of that occurring, which is really exciting for the company,” Lai said, referring to archTIS’s broader international expansion strategy. He noted that the company had always planned to replicate its success with the Australian Department of Defence and local defence industrial base in overseas markets, particularly those facing geopolitical pressures. Lai also highlighted progress in the US and Europe, where trials were recently completed with a large US department and NATO in the UK. Tamboran Resources boosts NT gas supply with Arafura deal

Tamboran Resources Ltd CEO Joel Riddle talked with Proactive about the company's newly signed letter of intent (LOI) with Arafura Resources Ltd to supply gas from the Beetaloo Basin. Riddle explained that both companies are based in the Northern Territory, and the agreement supports local strategic projects by providing 25 terajoules (TJs) per day to Arafura's critical minerals project. The agreement aligns with Tamboran’s strategy of prioritising Northern Territory gas use. “We’re a Northern Territory company. We’ve been focused on appraising the Beetaloo Basin now for all 12 years I’ve been in my job,” Riddle said, highlighting the company’s long-term commitment to the region. Riddle also pointed out the environmental edge of Beetaloo Basin gas, which has a CO2 content of about 3%, significantly lower than the 15–20% typically found in other Australian basins. He said supplying this low-carbon gas to the East Coast would help reduce emissions by displacing higher-carbon alternatives. Discussing supply capacity, Riddle compared the Beetaloo to the Marcellus Shale in the US, noting it could provide enough gas to support the East Coast for “hundreds of years”. Tamboran plans to bring 40 TJs per day online in the first half of next year under an existing 15-year agreement with the NT Government. The Arafura deal will add a further 25 TJs daily. Riddle said work is underway with pipeline partner APA to ensure infrastructure capacity. The company aims to finalise a binding gas sales agreement with Arafura soon. DP Poland CEO Nils Gornall on Pizzeria 105 acquisition strategy

DP Poland PLC (AIM:DPP) CEO Nils Gornall talked with Proactive about the company’s acquisition of Pizzeria 105 in Poland for £8.5 million — a key step in its strategy to transition towards a franchise-led business model. Gornall explained that DP Poland is the master franchisee of Domino’s Pizza in both Poland and Croatia, and this latest acquisition boosts the company’s franchised store percentage from just 8% three years ago to over 50% today. “The best Domino’s businesses around the world are franchisee-led. That's where we need to be,” he said. Pizzeria 105 is the fourth-largest pizza chain in Poland, with 90 franchised stores. Gornall emphasised how this acquisition aligns with DP Poland’s strategy, highlighting the opportunity to bring Domino’s global brand power and systems to a well-established local operator. “We have the tools to help the franchisees really take it to that next level,” he said. The transaction also adds more than 80 franchise business owners to DP Poland’s ecosystem and supports a shift toward selling down corporate-owned stores. He said the key focus now is rebranding and driving sales performance with Domino’s marketing and operational capabilities. The long-term ambition is to move from 50% to 90% franchise ownership.
