Re: try this link

The Dell is 23% heavier, but has a larger screen.

Light weight is what makes a notebook a premium notebook,so we should really be comparing the averatec to a 4.3lb Dell, but since that Dell would cost much, much, more, we'll make WBMW happy and "cheat" in favor of Dell. Note that, since Dell is stuck with only Intel processors, if you want a sub 5 pound notebook, you're stuck with a 933mhz CPU and have to drag around an external CD drive. But that's what happens when you limit yourself to an inferior supplier.

Having pointed that out, let's try WBMW's link:

WBMW's Dell Gollem's Averatec
Price: $1,199 (-$100 rebate) $1,025
Weight: 5.3lbs 4.3lbs
CPU: 1.3GHZ 1.4GHZ
Cache: 1024K 512K
Screen: 1024x768/14.1" 1024x768/12.1"
Disk: 20GB 40GB
Memory: 128M 256M
Warranty: 1yr 1yr
DVD: NO YES
CD-RW: NO YES
CDROM: YES YES
Extra Bat: YES No

Above is standard, now we even things out:

Add DVD/CD-RW $169 Included
40GB HD $119 Included
256meg DDR $50 Included
Extra Bat Included $129

Total: $1,537 (-$100 rebate) $1,154
Having to drag around a heavier notebook, and pay for the privelege:

Priceless!!!!
