As a web master, I am surprised after looking at the scripting of Neomedia's web site index page at www.neom.com, to find that the Meta Tags are very poorly designed and are even missing some important components. IMHO

Typically there are 3 main Meta Tags that a web page should be tending to in order to assure that they achieve maximum search engine position. These Meta Tags are typically found at the very top of the scripting after the Head Tag. You should see
a "Title" Tag, a "Description" Tag and a "Keyword" Tag. Each of these would then have the appropriate information to inform the search engine spiders as to what the site pertains to. Without these, the search engine will be at a loss in determining what the web site is about and thus the ranking will suffer.

You can view most web sites HTML scripting by simply clicking on the "View Source" in your Internet Explorer. Click "View" from the menu at top and the select "Source". Every page of a web site should have properly constructed Meta Tags that correspond with the text content on the particular page.

Here is an example of good meta tags. Go to http://www.adverblog.com/archives/cat_mobile_marketing.htm which I found in good position in Google with the search terms of Mobile Marketing as PeeVeeCee pointed out. View the source and you will see the following Meta Tags at work.

<title>Adverblog: Mobile marketing Archives</title>
<meta name="keywords" content="advertising, online advertising, interactive marketing, print advertising, online campaigns, mobile marketing, advergames, viral marketing, new media, blogs">
<meta name="description" content="Adverblog: advertising, interactive marketing and viral ideas">

These tags as well as the word content on the corresponding page is a significant component of what a search engine spider will use to determine what a web site is about so that it can be properly ranked.

Now take a look at Neomedia's Meta Tags.
Go to www.neom.com and selct View then Source.

The only Meta Tag found is the Title Tag which reads as follows.
<title>NeoMedia Technologies - We Bring Innovative Technologies to the Forefront!</title>

There is no Description Tag and there is no Keywords Tag. This sets the page at a distinct disadvantage when compared to companies that have web sites that bring all components necessary to achive good seach engine placement.

Meta Tags as well as tending to Link Popularity strategies is the key to good search engine placement.

Hey! I just found a way to get a First Position Ranking for Neomedia. If a person Googles the following search critia "We Bring Innovative Technologies to the Forefront" (from the Title Tag) Neomedia comes up in first place. But what are the chances of someone putting in that group of words.

Search Engine Placement must not be much of a concern for Neomedia. I am not sure why this would be.

This all in my very humble opinion.
