NIH and WHO don't count...I mean, you can't possible be saying THEY'RE the entities we've been waiting to hear the company is working with. EVERYONE is working with them. That's not info.

Now that's extremely laughable,.... why wouldn't organizations or agencies like NIH or WHO count? And I'm not saying that they are among those agencies/organizations with which an MTA is most likely to be made.

First - what IS a MTA (Materials Transfer Agreement)?

Essentially - all an MTA is a written contract that governs the transfer of tangible research materials. An MTA outlines the rights, obligations and restrictions for both the provider and recipient of materials and any derivatives, and any confidential information exchanged with the material.

When IP or 'Trade Secret' information or experimental materials are given out by a company like NNVC to another entity (Like an NIH lab with BSL-4 lab space for example) it's basically a 'cover your butt' document stating what can and cannot be done with those materials, and with whom the information generated or provided can and cannot be openly shared.

Material Transfer Agreements protect the rights of both the receiver and the provider. That's all they are for.

WHO to my knowledge does not have BSL-4 labs of its own in the USA - so my guess is WHO is not going to get an MTA signed off on with NNVC until AFTER an Ebolacide product is available to be distributed IF WHO gets one at all with NNVC.

The list of Agencies or Organizations in the United States with BSL-4 lab space is very short. My guess without doing some digging is that the list of BSL-4 facilities that are approved and equipped to work with live Ebola virus is even shorter. According Wikipedia there were as of 2007 only 15 BSL-4 facilities in the USA, 9 of them in Government Facilities.

Down in the BSL-4 section.

One of these is run by the CDC down in Atlanta. Another in Bethesda run by NIH. Four (one under construction) are on the Ft. Detrick campus in Frederick, MD just outside of DC. A few others scattered about the USA in TX, Boston and one in Montana.

The idea that we don't have a good idea with whom an MTA might go forward even without inside insight is silly.

Expect an MTA, when one appears with one of the labs that is set up to work with Ebola in either the NIH facility, the previously used Army facility at Ft. Detrick, or possibly with the CDC in Atlanta.
