Re: the unexpected pessimistic guidance for Q2 makes me wonder if some of those levers were wisely operated. Has Intel just displaced some of its earnings problems into the future?

Upon listening to the earnings conference, it seems the analysts thought the same thing. Of course, Intel firmly denied it, saying that the downward guidance takes into account a week or two of OEM inventories that need to be burned off, and Intel is highly confident that they can enable the OEMs to do this. When you do the math, a week or two of impact in a 13 week quarter from some of Intel's biggest customers would turn out to be fairly expensive, and I think it fits the numbers nicely.

Re: It seems NGMA is trusted to quickly turn things around in Q3. That may signal a high confidence in the NGMA introduction --- though with little room for any missteps.

Intel also asserted confidence in NGMA, saying they expect market share gains, and some rather quick customer adoption. Having it share all of the platform infrastructure of the current product line is said to assist in the fast ramp.
