I think that this has changed with OneDrive.

I haven't used OneDrive or iDrive (I disabled OneDrive on Windows 8 and I need Yosemite for iDrive and I'm going to wait a few weeks before looking at it) but they are supposed to look like cloud disks. As far as storage goes, just add an external USB drive. I have a bunch of these in my parts bin in a variety of different sizes and I'd give them away to family and acquaintances if asked. These are already pretty cheap on Newegg but you could probably get some really cheap prices on Craigslist or even your local PC mom-and-pop store.
