I use quantum dots for prototype alpha voltaic batteries.
The broad range of applications is incredible with these semiconducting particles.
I have also mixed QD's into sailboat wood varnish for extended protection. The QD's absorbed the ultraviolet photons, lowering their energies so the polymers don't degrade to flake/peel off.
