Did you notice the chart Fairholme had about FnF market share prior to the housing collapse in that article? Did you see the how the private MBS market share increased drastically the few years up the collapse? look what happened between 2003 and 2004. Something major changed in the housing market that cause the private market share to double.

If you take that chart at face value? We should have no worries about FnF controlling the market.. We should worry more if private MBS issuance picks up.
