The thing is that truth is an absolute defense to slander. So, if they sue you, you have the right to fully access their books and other records to prove that the slanderous statement was true.
If I get sued by Margrit, I will go through the discovery process and post every shred of paper I get on the internet. I would also send it all in a well organized form to the SEC. Scam CEOs know that is likely to happen so they really can't sue anybody.
Plus, in CA you can pop them with an anti-SLAPP counterclaim. So, they have a significant chance of ending up with a verdict against them
