Hi SFP. Always enjoy your posts. I think my points were all about revenue from MJ. My talking points are based on close friends and relatives that live in NY and CA. While there is a much larger population in CA, that doesn't make the economy better. I will concede that the higher education in CA is better. My home would be worth more than a million dollars in either of these two states, and I wouldn't be able to sustain my quality of life in either. Do people in CA make that much more than those in TX? I'd say the cost of living and economic health issue is debatable. But… MJ will be legalized in CA and NY because both the states and local governments are out of ways to generate revenue. Thinking that those governments will pass legislation for the "good of the people" is a canard. It's all BS politics. NY and CA have a perpetual budget issue. CA is ranked the 3rd worst tax state in the US. The local and state governments create out-of-control budgets without sustained ability to generate revenue. It's all based on taxation of property, income, and consumption. Some metro areas in CA have more than 4 different taxes on the same sale. CA sales tax is 8.25%, and cities and counties can also add additional tax on sales of up to an additional 10%. Businesses are using their feet because of the multitude of taxes and subsequent high cost of living, which are so pervasive that the corporate HQ's have, and will continue to move. I'm a fiscal conservative. I'll vote for the first person that will actively pay down the national debt, and balance the REAL federal budget. All financed by MJ - of course.
