OT: Prawn traps with commercial bait or some people use tuna or other fish type cat food.

This is the set up I use, same electric puller, got lazy couple years ago, pulling up to 350' of rope with two traps on the end is work.

Each fishing license is allowed four traps, max two on each line. 200-300' of water, rocky bottom, on either the up or downside slope of a reef I find best. Traps are down for as little as an hour for each "set" or pull. I like 1.5-2 hours.

Bigger tides better, bait scent drifts farther.

Spot prawns are the largest of the 7 commercial species of shrimp found in Canada’s west coast waters. The prawn’s body colour is usually reddish brown or tan with white horizontal bars on the carapace (shell) and distinctive white spots on the first and fifth abdominal segments. While large females can exceed 23 cm (9 inches) in total length, the restricted carapace (shell) size limit for harvest is 33 mm (1 1/3 inch) long.

The spot prawn is known for its sweet, delicate flavour and firm texture.

Back to my couch and book, being lazy today.
