yes... the "tower" would be more structurally sound. But... the mass of even a hollow structure that size is would create an incredible logistics cost alone to bring that much concrete to the site. Let me take a stab at it. 1800 feet across at the base times 3.14 = 5,652 linear feet. Lets say the walls are conservatively averaging 2 feet thick, = 11,304 cubic feet per 1 foot of height. So, 2,250 feet tall times 11,304 = 25,434,000 cubic feet divided by 81 "cubic feet per yard of concrete" ='s 314,000 cubic yards. At the cost of 90 dollars per yard of concrete, your at 28.26 million dollars for concrete alone. rebar would be a similar cost. Now lets talk labor and construction overhead, the most expensive part of any construction project.
