A truly inspiring news article that I stumbled upon doing research on CBD today. And to think of the exciting developments the NRTI medical team is having. Really hoping to hear more about what they've been up to soon:
"Hailey, now 8, suffers from Dravet Syndrome, a rare form of intractable epilepsy that begins in infancy. She has been prescribed a number of strong pharmaceuticals in her young life, but in the last few months, her mother, Tami King, has given her cannabis oil orally, which she says has allowed her daughter to do things she has never been able to do. She said she saw an instant change in Hailey after giving her the first dose of Tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, or THCA.
"Within the first 24 hours, she was speaking in full sentences," she said. "She also within two days was walking upright and she played in a bounce house (for the first time)."
Hailey takes the THCA and cannabidiol, or CBD, infused in oil, orally, in small doses, three times a day, an hour apart from her pharmaceuticals, which gradually are being decreased.
King said the THCA has done more for regulating her body than controlling the seizures.
"We were really good with her other meds," King said. "She would go sometimes a month without a big tonic clonic seizure, but the meds were killing her."
Since she began the cannabis products, Hailey has had her first fever, indicating her body can finally fight off bacteria and infections; her temperature is regulated on both sides of her body; her blood pressure is maintained; she is eating and drinking orally, without relying solely on a G-tube; she can ride a bike; and she now can feel pain.
Hailey also can now walk with better balance, King said, and she tries to speak in full sentences."
