Obviously the statement that they were close to a deal with a celebrity endorser was not accurate and the deal fell through.

How is that obvious? I believe the exact words were that we were "in negotiations with" a celebrity.

Even if we signed one later that day, I would wait until a full-scale national rollout before any endorsement or mention of a celeb signing.

The PPS will be fine in due time. Annual report will suck, 1Q will be surprisingly better, then the Q2 will rock and so on. The PPS will rise accordingly. We just need time. And to put the icing on the cake, we will announce a celeb probably after we go national sometime next year.
