PYR's profit jumps in Q2

PYR Energy Corp. posted a profit during the second quarter of fiscal year 2006, ended Feb. 28, a figure considerably higher than a year earlier.
The Denver company (AMEX: PYR - News) is exploring for natural gas and crude oil, with its efforts focused in the Rocky Mountains, East Texas and the Gulf Coast.

PYR posted net income of $175,000, a big bump from the $30,000 in net income from a year earlier. Oil and gas revenue reached $2 million for the quarter, compared to $1.2 million for the same period in 2005. The company said net production rose 53 percent from a year ago.

PYR didn't record any earnings per share, and analysts didn't offer any estimates.
