You're exactly right. Hence Dr. Fowler and company are and have been very focused on cost containment from the get go. I predict that profits will not be great initially due to this. I don't expect an Apple product like roll out of SPORT......like Intuitive did with the Xi at there big meeting....according to a high up Intuitive guy).
Intuitive considers itself a technology company....not a measly medical device company. Hence they keep costs high by design. I don't mind paying a lot for an iPhone 6 plus or an Apple watch. But surgery shouldn't cost more just because intuitive says it has to be so. It's a slippery slope.
