SUNRISE: Competitive enrolment confirmed

Page 2 of 11 (which starts about page 8 of this PDF) of the protocol between the CRO PPD Italy and the Hospital states EXPLICITLY that the trial does competitive enrolment and even gives the international context of such.
Source: SUNRISE Protocol Monza, Italy

Furthermore the estimation of 16 centres to be opened for Italy seems quite close. The Italian hospitals expect to enrol 5 patients (out of 55 in total assigned to Italy). That would be 55/5=11 but in a competitive enrolment 16 makes sense so 55/16=3.4 (so 3 to 4 patients per hospital on average).

...il numero di patzienti per centro puo variare, in piu o in meno...

And indeed therefore the number of patients per centre may vary, more or less.

Another interesting piece of information is that the Italians (which are late in opening there centres compared to the rest of the world) from this protocol did NOT receive DECEMBER 2015. For them the estimated end of enrolment has already been advanced by TWO months and this was written on SEPTEMBER 18th 2014!!!

Same page:

...(data stimata fine arruolamento Novembre 2015)...

This confirms kind of what I wrote after one of the CC's that SUNRISE enrolment is good on track, not just on track.

I knew I was good not to stick to Swedish girlfriends only, Italian blonds and Swedish brunettes :)

We also get good insight on cost (we have this for other hospitals too, posted some Greek ones some time ago). See end of document.

So if PPHM budgeted 100K$ per patients it is certainly not the Italian or Greek centres that will consume it for treatment. Much of the cost will be elsewhere.
