who benefits? 1. Police get to keep and use all the neat weapons of war-battering rams, flash bang grenades, tear gas; they get to do no-knock raids. They get to really act like military. They get to mess up people's lives in a huge way. 2. Lawyers get a whole bunch of new business out of this stuff, lawyers whose fees are paid by the taxpayer, or the recipient of the loving middle-of-the-night raid. 3 Court system gets a whole bunch of new business, justifying greater and greater funding. It's all a daisy-chain cluster f**k at taxpayers expense. Witness the pepper-spraying cop who sued for mental anguish and got a settlement.
