The latest rumors are saying it will be ready late 2015 instead of early 2015. I hope the PC business can survive another one year plus of the Windows 8 nightmare.

I also have a Win8.1 machine working well, but it takes hours of tweaking to get it that way. I get rid of all Metro, best I can. Then use Classic Shell to get a start menu and to make Windows explorer work more like XP (with enough directory level indentation for my old eyes to see). Then I use Windows Shortcut Arrow Editor to get rid of the oversized shortcut arrows so that I can see the icons. Then I put back the task bar quick launch so that a web browser or explorer can always be launched with a single mouse click. And finally use the quick launch to put a 'show desktop' button back in the left corner instead of the carpel-tunnel inducing win7/8 location way out in the boondocks.
