The woman who does the research for the town (love her voice)said she called HC and they weren't that helpful but she didn't come out and say that directly - if memory serves me. She also stated that she talked with other towns that have grow facilities. I agree that the impact of the facility, on the community, is probably negligible. However, there are concerns that have to be addressed. HC should be supporting FITX and doing damage control but they aren't. The laws are new, the zoning issues are new, the potential for crime is new, etc. A double fence with barbed wire implies that there are bad people who will be looking to break into the facility. Not kid or family friendly. It looks like a prison and is a daunting thing to look out but that is what HC wanted. I think the town jumped in, initially with both feet, and then those feet grew cold. I really believe that the PR about being the largest in the world, etc, didn't help the situation but added fuel to the fire. For one reason or another there was some confusion about several PR's. This didn't help either. Time will tell but it would suck to wait another 6 months and have all the other grow facilities that much ahead of FITX. I read that it costs 122 to grow 1 lb of pot. I think that was just the cost of the electricity. There is also a lot of overhead. Plants take time to grow and mature. This is not a situation where money will be flowing in from day one. It will take some time to build relationships with doctors and to develop different strains. They will burn through lots of cash. It can still work out but there are sooooo many question marks that for me the risk is not worth the potential reward.
