sale: NeoMedia isn't necessarily a QR code company. NeoMedia processes barcodes, such as QR codes, used for marketing materials. That means when you scan a barcode, and NeoMedia issued that barcode, NeoMedia gets a few cents of revenue. The downside is most of the barcodes NeoReader scans, upwards of 95% of their scans, are done for free. The upside is any barcode NeoMedia issues generates revenue no matter which scanner app is used to scan it.

Many investors believe barcode processing is a small portion of their actual revenue. NeoMedia stopped reporting revenue for barcode processing. It is likely the bulk NeoMedia revenue is from intellectual property covenant-not-to-sue agreements.
