FWIW I don't think it's games trying to milk out some chump change, as Anjango described the MMs do this to create some liquidity and a market. Like I said in my long winded reply to him, it's a little understood phenomenon but it's the truth. They free up enough shares to sell a certain amount down here, even if they have to sell them short, then after X amount of $ changes hands they move it up. Those buyers become sellers at the next level and provide shares for the next batch of buyers and if the momentum keeps up enough then it becomes a cycle which turns into a liquid market. Believe it or not MMs do serve a function and while they certainly play 'games', all of this light volume funny business is actually just part of the process of turning an illiquid stock into a liquid one.
