In September and early October, 1955, Dominion Gulf completed eight, shallow, X-ray
diamond drill holes (366.5 m). A further eight AXT-diameter holes (1,677 m) were
completed by the end of the year. By April 1956, 8,556 m of drilling had been completed in
68 holes. The core was stored on the property. Core (35 boxes) from three holes (208-56-49, 21 & 58) are stored at the Timmins core library. In 1988 Musto was able to recover and
resample several AXT-diameter holes. Fumerton et al. (1993) encountered “well-preserved
core”. Piilonen (2003) took photos of core apparently adjacent to a deteriorating log
structure. Sarissa (S. Keevil, personal communication, July 2010) reports that some
remnants of core were found around an old container. The records seem to suggest that
core was stored near Dominion Gulf's campsite on the east shore of the lake and within the
setback from the lake and should not have been disturbed by logging
