I think you must have confused the fugitive Tommy Thompson with Odyssey Marine (OMEX). Is that the "owner" you're referring to?

If so, he is not connected with OMEX at all. OMEX was awarded a salvage recovery contract on the SS Central America and the SSCA was originally discovered by a company that TT founded. So, they are both connected to the shipwreck but have no connection to each other.
