Absolutely. Just enter the name of SKU in the computer and voila! Virtually every single retail chain has this capability and yes, customer service has that information at their fingertips. And absolutely they will supply those numbers so the customer knows what's available and where to go. When I called the first time at the Burbank store I told her I wanted to pick up a case. She said they only had 5 units on hand and when I asked if there were any other stores in the area with more on hand she started reading down the list. Try it. I guarantee they will gladly give you the numbers. Whether it's Costco or Macy's, any retailer is going to try steer a customer towards any store in their chain that has what they want. What do you think they'd say? "Uh, it is carried at some other stores but I can't tell you if they have enough." Talk about getting real! Call Best Buy and tell them you want 20 computer monitors of a certain type and you want to pick them up. Trust me they'll tell you where to go and which store has what in a New York minute. There's absolutely nothing proprietary about product availability.
