I'm not saying that exporting will never occur in the future, but everyone's getting ahead of themselves. You have a "$1.3 billion" potential market in Canada, and people are thinking of shipping the stuff elsewhere. One thing at a time, folks.

Apologies then, we were under the mistaken impression that "never" was implied.
Allow me to clarify my comment. I am at no time delusional enough to think that this is something that will or even can happen in the short term. I absolutely agree that domestic supplying of patients comes first. However, that being said, eventually this is something that can happen and will probably happen.

Using produce as an example, why does the U.S. import so much mango? In the southern states Mango's fall off of every one of my neighbors mango trees and can be consumed in copious quantities. So many rot away all the time. The answer isn't simple but it has to do with taxes, regulation, supply, demand. The demand for mango is higher than the U.S. can produce for various reasons that also include taxes, regulation, supply, and demand.

A quick snippet.

I personally believe that Canada will be one of the leading producers of MJ in the world in the next 5-10 years and being able to export it. Thanks to the foresight of the individual law makers who wrote export/import regulations into the MMJ law(s) this can become quite a cash crop for the government and for the people.

Still this is neither here nor there right now and as you said, is a long way off.
