One explanation for doing this (walking down the PPS intentionally) would be for the purpose of accumulation.

With a big announcement likely to coincide with the ticker and reverse split changes I think it's no illogical to assume that someone (or people) are buying up shares now ....

One purpose to buy up shares now, in my opinion, is to ensure you get free shares in Trident and it's client companies later....
