That you asked, I do not think it is copper staining at all. Rather i would suggest that a silica or mica is absorbing certain bands of light from the sunlight and the sky before releasing the visual effect of the lo-hued copper stain type of effect. The same effect can be noted in the crystal clear waters of the salty tropical beaches, very BLUE colored along northern Florida and very clear at places along the eastern Fla coast.
Note than when you travel up to Georgia turns a murkey brown on close visual. It can take very small amount of sediment to reflect back poluted discoloration having the visual effect of crystal mica and silica will give this non-native form of disscoloration. Granted you're onto something but it really isnt anything to celebrate over.
Note that the areas do have the vaired colorations/shade or reflections as noted that with the very large are of RREs it could just be the presence of the fluids which bound the RREs and the other binders of the non-ferious precious and nonprecious elements.
Good catch and i can only say it as i just said most likely came from the variance of these invaluable common elements. NO BALLON, i know it hurts and i got one in your favorate color too!
