CASEYPO - Repost from 8/26/14:

My dd from the opinions of textile execs outside of KBLB & WM have not led me astray so far and have in fact reinforced my opinion of where KBLB/WM stands with MS tonnage and commercialization. Kim T. set up conservative mid-year expectations of MS tonnage. Granted Kim is 45- 75 days past an expectation that he set up many months ago (depending on how one defines mid-year). Disruptive biotech doesn't progress on a linear plane or timeline. I've paid more attention to what Charlie Howland has commented on in the last several joint PR's as to MS weaving progress.

REPOST:
As to tonnage, I'm of the opinion that KBLB has already produced tonnage of MS at the filature. The question not addressed on this MB is consistency/quality/specified use for proof of concept for a specified customer to the satisfaction of that specified customer. I've been told by fiber execs from other companies that even the lesser quality MS will have a high degree of marketability, just not for the IED protective clothing DOD market. Homozeigosity of MS thread was achieved several years ago. KT being historically conservative in his PR's, will only announce tonnage when the MS yarn tonnage reaches the level of high quality, consistent MS yarn woven by WM to clinch "proof of concept" for a specific use and specified customer of MS. KT has set up these expectations and timelines in his earlier PR's for a mid-year rollout. At this point he's late meeting his own earlier projections. So be the nature of disruptive tech. The next PR could include details of a specific MS customer and use thru WM - IMO. It could be a blockbuster PR. I won't speculate when it's coming.

Best regards - yankee
