That's not what I'm talking about at all. I'm talking about a WHOLE NEW WAY to insert spider DNA into a silkworm that would not qualify as patent infringement in any court of law. We didn't patent putting spider DNA into a silkworm (and you can't patent that). We patented how to put which spider DNA in. There's lots of ways to get around gene patents (which spider DNA) and are so many solutions regarding how to put DNA into a genome.

It is better to have a patent and not need it,than to need a patent and not have one.



Let's agree on this and move on. There's no point to niggling over a simple truth of scientific progress.
