Looks like Intel is following AMD's lead again - x86 everywhere. Well, everywhere except Itanium's little corner of the universe
Those with memory capability exceeding a houseplant will remember that Intel created the x86 family expressly as an embedded processor line. And such folks will also note that Intel has long offered older x86 products on long term availability basis to the embedded crowd, a concept that only recently dawned on AMD although its concept of long term availability is still quite laughable.
Those with long memories will also remember how AMD burnt its embedded control customers when it dropped development of its 29k family. Many of those people have not forgotten either.
