This seems to have gotten more involved than I expected, so let me review a little and hopefully clarify that I have no agenda on this one, direct or implied (suggested)
In post 4972, 1OFHIS asked Imorovan
Can you show me a verse that says that God makes exceptions to His commands?
Unless you plan on responding with God’s Word, don’t bother responding.
Imorovan in 4973 said
There is no such verse.
Killianpsi in post 5012 responding to Imorovan said
“If God were to make an exception about His own law, He would be sinning, because He would be lying.
Never does God make an exception to his commandment.
My post 5014 responding to Killianpsi
Offered this passage in Matt 12 and i specifically said no biggie - not trying to prove anything.
And in the end your post confirms what I said, God does make exceptions to his commandments. There are many reasons why God makes exceptions to his commandments, and your response includes several good ones. So in the end to say that God never makes an exception to a command, or to say there are no verses that demonstrate that fact seems less than accurate. This in no way diminishes God or accuses him of any wrongdoing in any way that I can think of.
I suppose a possible alternate response might have been “Yes these verses do describe exceptions to commandments and yes, they are actual verses hmmmmmm….. let’s see how this fits into our discussion.” - but such was not the case
my meditation from this was to think through the question: what insight did David have that gave him the courage to eat the bread - my first impulse is to think about what part "anointed" might play in it - he had a high regard for that - and that idea came from your post that if the priests were exempt, one greater than the priests (the anointed) is obviously exempt also - good stuff, thanks
Anyway, it’s all good, and the thoughts in your post are worth reading, so hopefully all ends well. All in good fun I would have to suggest that the Lord, IMHO, deliberately set up the corn-picking situation to get a reaction, but if that doesn’t work for you, hey, go with short cut to synagogue.
